When in Oct can we expect this? I am in a similar situation, Money expires 11/1/09 and would like to wait for the new converter and 2010.

    Thanks, Craig

Any idea of when in October, especially for the Quicken 2009 patch? My copy of Money expires in about a week. If it’s gonna be a few months before I see the Q09 patch, I might as well dive in and hand-edit everything to get it updated. (Looks like I’m running MSMoney + Quicken09 in parallel for a while. The accounting users I’ve supported in the past are now secretly chuckling with glee.)

    Bottabing (cool name, BTW):

    Yes, it’s post right here:

    http://blog.quicken.intuit.com/announcement/2009/06/11/open-letter-to-ms-money-customers/

The converter will be built into Quicken 2010 for Windows, which will be available in October. A few weeks after, we’ll have it available as a patch for Quicken 2009.

    Thanks
    Scott

Scott said – “We are releasing a new converter in October as per our previous announcement. Things will work better then.”

Scott – this is great news. Is there a link to this announcement, I was unable to locate it? Also, where on the Quicken site may I go to find updated information about the update when it becomes available?

    Thanks.

I am still having problems using the Quicken converter. It brings up a very brief message stating “Duplicate category name. Try another name.” Then it brings up the MicroSoft “error send or don’t send” screen”. I have verified very category listed in Money, and find no duplicates. Does anyone from Quicken have a recommendation for a fix to this problem? Ben Meyer (Aug. 15th) states to change cash account to something else. Tried it, doesn’t work, but thanks for the suggestion. Still looking for an answer from Quicken……

  • August 30th, 2009 7:44 pm - Scott Meyer

Change the name of your Cash account in Microsoft Money to something different like Cash_MSMoney and you should be golden. I found this only another forum and it worked for me. Hopefully, it works for you.

Same exact problem as Holly (August 15th). Very frustrating. Helllllllp!

I have tried several times, unsuccessfully, to use the Quicken data converter. It comes up with a brief error message (very brief and hard to remeber) something to the affect of error duplicate category, cannot converter your data. Then the Microsoft error page comes up. I have checked and rechecked all my categories in Money, and have NO duplicate accounts. What is the problem?

I’m a frequent option trader, and have several years of historic options data stuck in MSFT Money.

    1. I hear Quicken is weak with respect to options and short sales. Is there a plan to become more robust?

    2. Apparently .qif files don’t handle options; when I’ve exported my brokerage acct info from Money via a .qif file, all options trades are excluded. Not too helpful. Is there a plan, in your conversion utility, to allow option trade conversion as well?

    3. The reason I care so much is I like to export all my info to tax software, and manually entering dozens of trades is not something I’m interested in doing.

    Thanks,
    -Chris

I just transferred over my MS Money data successfully. Thank you for the easy transfer instructions. However, none of them show up as reconciled. All the way back to 2001! I had balanced my account at the end of June. Do I have to go through 8 years and reconcile each transaction??

    Hi slhcrnp,

You’re welcome. I know the transition from one finance solution to a new one isn’t a minimal task. You can find more help here (search Q&A, etc.): http://quicken.intuit.com/support.jsp.

    Thanks again,

I just made my purchase and will be downloading it later in the week when I have more time to work with it. Thanks to Quicken for the discount and also for the Live Forum for our questions. I’ll go and join the forum tonight. I just finished updating my finances in Money. It will be hard to change as I remember I had a hard time with Quicken in the past.

Hello again. I posted recently in response to the Open Letter to MM users. I continue to be very concerned and am not sure what to do. I know that I’ll eventually be needing to change to Quicken but if the work is still in process for the transition to be successful why would I get Quicken now before Intuit is fully ready for us? I’m confused as to why there is a rebate offer now – that expires soon – and not when the Quicken program is ready for us. Please help. Sincere thanks in advance.

I’ve been using MS Money since 1993, and when I open MS Money, it takes about 2-5 minutes to open. I was told that the delay was due to my anti-virus program running through all the file compressions…not sure if that’s true. do your customers run into similar delays from years of stored bites? In any case, I’ll be looking forward to the switch to quicken in 2010.

    Hi

There are Macro’s available for Excel that will allow Excel to query/extract data from a Money file.

Do Macro’s exist that will allow extract from Excel to Quicken – I know about CSV type export from Quicken but that is not good enough for what I want

Hi – my Amex accounts are not recognized by Quicken Online at all. I’ve verified that the account info is correct a number of times, on different computers in various locations. I was able to access my Fidelity brokerage account and 401k, but not able to access the Fidelity Advisors account that manages the 529’s. In both instances an error message comes up after a couple of trys saying that the accounts could not be accessed. Any thoughts? S

  • June 25th, 2009 11:07 am - Scott Gulbransen

    Hey Sean…Scott from Quicken here.

I have Fidelity connected (401K, 529s, others) connected to Quicken Online and they’re working great as of two minutes ago.

In addition, several folks on our product team have AMEX connected and they’re working great as well. Not sure what’s happening on your end…Can you send a screen shot?

    Thanks,
    Scott

It appears that Quicken Online does not sync up with some of the major credit cards and banks (American Express and Fidelity). A quick look through the help request postings indicate that I am not the only one who finds this baffling.

Does the Quicken Premier version include these banks? I am considering a switch to Quicken Premier from MS Money, but being unable to sync up with such major institutioins is a real deal-killer.

    Thanks. S

I am glad to see plans to provide a way to convert older MS Money databases to quicken and hope it comes soon. I think the discounts being offered are great, but only for those using newer versions of Money. Please consider offering discounts/incentives for users with older versions of money (i.e. 2002) when you release your product that will convert money directly into Quicken.

I started using MS money plus Trial version 3 months ago and I did not purchase the full license yet. Can the Quicken data converter convert the data I got from the Trial version of MS Money? When is the data converter feature be actually available?

Will this new import solution due in the fall be able to seamlesly import transactions from MS money 2005.

  • June 18th, 2009 9:55 am - Scott Gulbransen

Doug..as we stated last week, we’re working with Microsoft to make it easy as possible for Money customers to transfer data directly into Quicken.

Since we just found out six days ago, we’ve just begun to work on it and we’ll have something ready in the fall.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Does Quicken have a comparable feature as MS Money’s Lifetime Planner module?
